In the mid 1980's, New Jersey Transit made a preservation error of sandblasting the exterior's pink stone. Acknowledging the huge mistake, the agency hired a full-time preservation specialist to oversee its many historic stations.

The building is owned by the New Jersey Transit with available passenger service, and it is leased as a convenience store/restaurant.
